Don't throw that old lid O-ring away. It looked fine and you have a backup! I'm glad you found the problem, if it had been a parts kit situation, I wouldn't buy the unit. Putting filter media in wrong pbasket, cool - live and learn. Filter pump failing in less than 7 to 10 years and needing a service kit, I would pass.

I just bought my 4th sunsun filter. These filters are so underrated. I have the 704 on my turtle tank and only need to clean it every 6 months. (I feed outside the tank). I have two on a 72 bow front (302 and 704) and a 704 on my 75g cichlid tank, that I haven’t opened in a year! (It’s due).

The problem I’ve been having is that after unplugging for a water change and plugging back in. It does it’s cycle of running for a couple of minutes and then shutting itself off and and then back on. Sometimes it doesn’t come back on. I finally got tired of the the BS and went eheim 2262 which is what I should’ve done from the beginning. However, I’m wondering by replacing the motor I may be able to salvage it??? This thing was probably about 6 months old at the time and it’s been in my attic. I recently pulled it back out and installed it on a 75 gallon. Worked great for about a month. Now it’s doing the same thing.

My little brother has a red eared slider that he found as a baby. I'm older and moved out before him, but when I went to visit recently I saw that his set up for them was really awful... It was just a completely empty tank, about 20 gallons I think, with no light or heater on it. As I understand it, he doesn't really take them out at all. It made me really upset and sad, so here I am learning about turtle care to hopefully convince my mom to force him to actually take care of them. ^-^;; Thank you for the video it was very informative!

when leading water OUT of the aquarium is not the time to be cheap and go budget... keep it more safe and go with quality materials!

Thanks to your awesome information, our rescued adult red eared slider, Butter (my toddlers named him that), has been thriving and loving his new home. We were at Petsmart on Mother's Day weekend, and someone abandoned this poor turtle in the bathroom. Associates at the store were trying to give him away for free and my husband has always loved turtles since he was a kid. Well because of your knowledge, we've given him a wonderful indoor tank and he's the funniest guy ever! He never bothers the fish, he's quite docile, and he loves rearranging his furniture!! My husband also got a juvenile 3-toed box turtle for his birthday, so we are turtled up in this house! Lol! Thank you so much and keep up the awesomeness of teaching about aquatic turtles!

Turtles are social and they do like each other this company, but just like any animal, they can have disagreements and suddenly decide they don’t like the other anymore

Clint's Reptiles in this video (ua-cam.com/video/CqPvKx86LuI/v-deo.html) show how to handle CST and make them "tame" and "more tame" from time to time. Maybe you should watch and try it so your turtle will be less aggressive.

I would like to know if your tank needs the top trim in order to fit the basking topper that you sell? I have a 75 gallon tank but it’s all glass at the top, no trim

Thanks for video. Yes they can. However, they need a large enough shelter, which means enough clean water and terrain to climb and hide. 30-50 cm turtles cannot live together anywhere else than in a garden pond. Also, if there are more of them, they need a very powerful filter. Much more powerful than large Koi carps. Many inexperienced breeders do not realize this. It is also necessary to remove sludge manually. Your aquariums are beautiful, I assume you need 1-2 hours a day on average to maintain them. It would be good if people who naively buy turtles and then release them into nature because they don't know how to take care of them when they grow up, should take this into account.

Bought 2 maps 3.5 years ago: Aho (Mississippi) and Nino (Ouachita). Got along in a 75 gallon for a little over a year. Nino started pestering and fluttering to the point Aho would try to bite her, likely out of annoyance. Shortly after that, they each have their own 75 gallon. I don't mind the maintenance, but it's not ideal. Definitely wish I would have just bought 1 turtle, but I'm committed to them now. Great video!

@longliveyourturtle Good episode. I also found this in my experience raising turtles. What kind of plants and fish do you have in the larger aquarium? I would like to outfit my turtle aquarium to appear more natural.
